Socially Assistive Robots

Socially Assistive Robots

Our research in socially assistive robots focuses on developing intelligent systems that can provide support and assistance in various care and educational environments, particularly for elderly care and supporting students with disabilities.

Ongoing Projects

Human Fall Detection Using An Ensemble Deep Learning Integrated With a Social Robot
MSc.P2
MSc

A novel fall detection system that enhances the YOLOv7 deep learning architecture to distinguish between fall and non-fall postures in elderly individuals. The system integrates object detection and pose classification in a single inference step, deployed on a NAO humanoid robot for real-time monitoring with immediate caregiver alerts.

Semantic Knowledge Context Graphs for Improved Relation Linking
MSc.P4
MSc

An advanced question answering system that enhances relation linking by integrating context-aware semantic knowledge graphs. The system combines lexical information, embedding-based similarity, and entity-level data to improve accuracy and interpretability in retrieving relevant property candidates from knowledge bases.
